This issue tends to happen when there are multiple monitors and they are of different display sizes.
IQDesktop will start correctly, but when you select any of the search options it appears to lock up and freeze. You are not able to close out of IQDesktop. It appears this way as the search window is open, but it is not in a viewable area of the screen and it has focus.
Press ALT+Space and select 'Move' and arrow UP/DWN/LFT/RT to navigate and bring the search window into view. This will save the position for any subsequent openings of the search window.
